Layne/Verti-Line Pumps
As an authorized distributor of Layne/Verti-Line Pumps we have access
to a range of vertical turbine, mixed flow and propeller pumps in sizes
from 6 to 57 inches with flows from less than 100 to over 35,000
gallons per minute.
The
Layne history began in 1882 when Mahlon Layne drilled the first well.
Then in 1903, Mr. Layne and entrepreneur P. D. Bowler joined in a
manufacturing venture - and soon the Layne & Bowler vertical
turbine pump became the standard of excellence in the well pump
industry. In less than 10 years the Layne & Bowler company had
spread from the Mississippi basin west and overseas. International
Water Supply was originally Layne Canadian Co. which was part of the
Layne group owned by Layne & Bowler .
The
current Layne/Verti-Line brand was the result of the amalgamation of
the Layne & Bowler, Verti-Line and Fairbanks Morse companies in
1994 by then-owner General Signal Corp. The product lines of the three
companies were reviewed and the best pumps for a given range of
hydraulic condition were selected and two product lines were
established, Layne/Verti-Line and Fairbanks Morse. Pumps from either
line are hydraulically identical and are manufactured in the former
Fairbanks Morse plant in Kansas City, Kansas. The 400,000 square foot
Kansas City Operations plant provides advanced engineering and
technology, a major testing facility for product performance
evaluation, and computerized machining centers for high-quality
manufacturing techniques.
